Highs: She'd been America's Sweetheart for years, but Sandra Bullock finally got the critical acclaim her fans thought she was long overdue when she swept the film industry's awards season, picking up the Golden Globe, SAG Award and Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of real-life mom Leigh Anne Tuohy in 2009's The Blind Side. Bullock became a mom herself in January when she and then-husband Jesse James adopted a baby boy named Louis from New Orleans.
Lows: Less than two weeks after her Academy Award win, In Touch magazine went to press with a cover story outing James's 11-month affair with tattoo model Michelle "Bombshell" McGee. Bullock immediately went into hiding, as additional claims of infidelity dogged James in the following weeks. When the actress finally emerged publicly — in an interview with People at the end of April — Bullock revealed that she'd filed for divorce from James and planned to raise her son as a single parent.
