Yeasayer, Odd Blood

In 2009, the members of the Brooklyn-based band Yeasayer holed up inside a cabin in Woodstock, N.Y., and refused to emerge until they'd recorded an album. The resulting Odd Blood is an off-kilter collection of indie rock and bizarre, percussion-heavy experimental music. Whereas the danceable "Ambling Alp" will lift you up, the futuristic "I Remember" will push you back down. And if the hand-clapping "Mondegreen" makes you want to dance like a spaz, we promise not to make fun of you. It happened to us too.
