Library of Congress Archives Tweets

If you have a Twitter account, congratulations: your writing is now archived by the Library of Congress. In April 2010, the Library of Congress announced it would archive every single tweet since the site's inception in 2006. Given that the site hosts some 50 million posts a day, there are sure to be several million breakfasts recorded into perpetuity. We know some tweets are important — some public figures make announcements about new projects or candidacy for office through Twitter — but are most really important enough to be in the Library of Congress? Let's just hope it serves as a roundabout way to get users to think before they tweet.
