General Larry Platt, "Pants on the Ground"

"I have a horrible feeling that song could be a hit," Simon Cowell said. And for about 15 minutes, it was. When General Larry Platt auditioned for American Idol, his performance of his original song, "Pants on the Ground," had the judges crying with laughter. The song largely consisted of the titular phrase, repeated often, and Platt's performance included dorky dance moves and attempts at breakdancing. He didn't make it to Hollywood, since the 62-year-old veteran was a little older than the show's age limit of 28, but Platt was invited back to perform his song on the show's season finale, complete with a hip-hop beat and backup dancers wearing — what else — sagging pants. And if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, his YouTube imitators made him a real winner.
