Let's Bring Back

There are lots of things we forget that we once loved. Indulge your loved one's taste for holiday nostalgia with Lesley M.M. Blume's A-Z encyclopedia of stuff we should really have never gotten rid of in the first place. Based on Blume's popular Huffington Post column of the same name, Let's Bring Back includes everything from ingenious but obsolete concepts (the automat, Polaroid cameras) to childhood staples usurped by digital diversions (hobby horses, paper dolls) to the standards of a more elegant era (penmanship, serenades). There are also a few tender appreciations of people we wish we could bring back (newscaster Walter Cronkite, sassy quipster Mae West). The book itself attempts to rescue some charming elements of bibliophilia rapidly going out of fashion in the Kindle age — the hardback comes with one of those nifty, old-fashioned ribbon bookmarks and even a blank ex libris bookplate for the nostalgic recipient to fill in.
