A Rattled Representative

On June 14, Representative Bob Etheridge, a Democrat from North Carolina, was caught off guard when two young men approached him on the street with a video camera in tow. One man, who identified himself as a student, asked Etheridge whether he "fully supported the Obama agenda." The question clearly unsettled the Congressman, who quickly became combative. Etheridge demanded repeatedly to know who the two men were, knocked the camera to the ground and grabbed the interviewer by the wrist, refusing to let go until they answered his question. The dustup went viral, and not long after, Etheridge issued a statement that he "deeply and profoundly" regretted his actions.
