Alvin Greene's G.I. Joe Stimulus

If all the media frivolities, unlikely victories and carnival-sideshow oddities of the 2010 midterm elections were encapsulated in one man, it would be Alvin Greene. The unemployed veteran, who beat out an Establishment Democrat for the party's Senate nomination in South Carolina without so much as a single campaign event or flyer, was a compelling train wreck at every turn. And his idea to fight unemployment — a significant part of his often monosyllabic platform — was no exception. "Another thing we can do for jobs," Greene told the Guardian in July, "is make toys of me, especially for the holidays. Little dolls. Me. Like maybe little action dolls."
