The Iron Hills
Location: Cappadocia, Turkey
Fleeing the ravages of ice dragons, a group of dwarf exiles sets up a community in the mineral-rich Iron Hills. The clan would later go to Bilbo's aid in a battle by the Lonely Mountain. Cappadocia in central Turkey has long seen tough, spirited communities of exiles and holdouts dwell in its rugged valleys. The region is renowned for its fortresses and temples cut into the hillside, as well as underground cities first built by early communities of Christians. These boast warrens and tunnels to make any dwarf proud.
