Vice President Spiro Agnew is dispatched to Asia by President Nixon to soothe American allies worried that the U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam will reduce its interest in the region. Agnew tells Asian leaders that the U.S. commitment to the region remains strong, even as the Senate moves to bar funding for military operations in Cambodia and Laos.
