The four-day, 54-mile Selma-to-Montgomery march to protest voting discrimination comes to a peaceful end as a crowd of 25,000 gathers outside the Alabama statehouse. But later, white racists have the last word: 39-year-old march participant Viola Liuzzo, a white woman from Detroit, lies dead in her car with a bullet in her temple.
