Vietnam

Week of Jan. 5, 1962
After communist Viet Cong guerrillas raid Duc Hoa village, 18 miles from Saigon, U.S. officers lead South Vietnamese troops in a counteroffensive to carry the war into "the heart of the Reds' jungle strongholds." U.S. soldiers are among the missing and dead. As more U.S. troops arrive in Vietnam, casualties are rising.
