Flip

Giants like Sony, JVC and Panasonic had been making camcorders for decades, so it wouldn't have been much of a surprise if one of them had been the first to make a compact camcorder at an affordable price. But in 2007, a virtual unknown, Pure Digital Technologies, surprised the big boys with its easy-to-use camcorder that ran on AA batteries and came equipped with an ingeniously hidden USB latch. Multiple iterations later, the Flip line of camcorders continues to do what others can't, which is why Cisco Systems acquired Pure Digital in 2009. When Oprah raves about your product in front of millions of viewers, well, you tend to do well.
