Lithium-Ion Batteries

First conceived by chemist M. Stanley Whittingham in the 1970s, lithium-ion batteries have become a staple in consumer electronics and are still used today. Capable of being packaged in different sizes and shapes, the rechargeable lithium-ion battery is said to have one of the best energy-to-weight ratios available. They're also capable of holding a charge over a long period of time when not in use.
