Kimmel Launches 'National UnFriend Day'

Do you really care what your old high school classmate had for breakfast this morning? If you're her friend on Facebook, you may have no choice. That's why the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live announced that November 17 would be National Unfriend Day, when Facebook users everywhere would trim the fat from their friends list. According to Kimmel, Facebook tends to cheapen real relationships by calling acquaintances — or even complete strangers — "friends." The holiday itself was celebrated on Kimmel's show with celebrity guests, unfriending parties across the country, and a counter showing hundreds of thousands of removed "friends." Hopefully, Kimmel said, the day made the world a little less annoying.
