Zach Galifianakis Lights Up on Air

Aside from the Republican takeover of Congress, a major issue this Election Day was the California referendum Proposition 19, a ballot measure that would have legalized the possession and cultivation of small amounts of marijuana for recreational use. Actor Zach Galifianakis discussed the measure on Real Time with Bill Maher. To demonstrate the taboos still surrounding marijuana, Galifianakis took out what appeared to be a joint, smoked it and attempted to pass it around the table of panelists. The stunt caused an uproar on set and online — so much so that Maher appeared on CNN to clear the air. "I think it was cloves or something," he told Wolf Blitzer. "If it was a real joint, Wolf, I would have smoked it."
