Computer Anti-Theft

What's the cardinal rule of owning expensive gadgetry? Protect your stuff from evildoers. Orbicule's Undercover theft-recovery software for Mac uses Wi-Fi positioning to locate your laptop by sending regular screenshots and photos from your device's webcam every eight minutes, hopefully giving you and the police an idea of the culprit's identity. For PC users, try Intel's Anti-Theft Technology software by Absolute Software. The program acts as a disabler by blocking the OS from loading and rendering storage useless after a user-reported theft alert, effectively locking the thief out of the computer. Recovery will be initiated by Computrace software, which serves as a tracking device for your rogue computer on or off line.

Price: $49 for Undercover Single user license
