The UAW Role Grows

Jan 1, 2010
The United Auto Workers' Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association officially takes over responsibility for health-care benefits of GM's retired blue-collar workers. The VEBA, which owns 17.5% stake in the new GM, claims GM owes it an additional $450 million relating to retiree benefits for Delphi, GM's former parts division. The UAW ultimately sues GM for the $450 million.
