N. R. Murthy

Infosys Co-founder

A former socialist who in the 1970s gave away all his money, Murthy, 55, is now among India's richest men, and Infosys, the company he co-founded in 1981, was the first Indian firm to be listed on the NASDAQ. Based in Bangalore, Infosys crea tes e-commerce software used by big companies around the globe. Murthy has not sold his soul for material success. One of his country's most admired men, he is vigilant about his employees' well-being — granting stock options, building exercise facilities and spreading values as much as wealth.
