Condoleezza Rice

What was your greatest learning experience?
I tried to be a competitive figure skater, and I wasn't very good. I learned how to work very hard at something — not successfully — and still get up and keep trying. For me, that was more important than doing things that I did well.

As you look ahead, what would you like to achieve?
I'm a terrible long-term planner. That's been the secret to my success. I'm never looking that far forward, but I love teaching, I love influencing young people, and I hope I'll be doing that for the rest of my life.
