The Harlem Globetrotters

The historic exhibition basketball team, which got started in Chicago in 1927, was well known for its ball-handling skills and good-natured comic athleticism. The Globetrotters bested some of the best basketball teams in the U.S. But while the team has played in front of 130 million fans, broken racial barriers and earned acceptance into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002, we're just not sure when basketball became a Hollywood happening.
