This HTC Magic phone is ranked as one of the worst by EWG. As with many models made by other manufacturers, EWG reports that with this phone, a user absorbs slightly different amounts of radiation depending on whether it is held by the ear or carried in a pocket.
The wireless industry contends that RF radiation lacks the strength to alter the molecules in the human body, and the government maximum for radiation levels is intended to ensure that RF waves don't heat body tissue to the point they damage cells.
