Bush Bows Out

The unusual level of introspective candor displayed by President George W. Bush in his January 2009 farewell to the Washington press corps ran in direct opposition to the good-ole-boy swagger he had become known for. Bush offered a frank assessment of his eight years in office and used the word disappointment more than a dozen times. While there were no shortage of blowups during W's two terms, his last stand in front of the cameras amounted to little more than a whimper.
