Six Novels in Woodcuts

Long before there was Maus or Watchmen, there was Lynd Ward, the first great American graphic novelist. In 1929, Ward launched a series of six wordless epics told entirely in stark, gorgeous woodcuts, now beautifully and deservedly reprinted by the Library of America.
