The Salazar Seat (Colorado)

Yet again, Democrats could become victims of their past electoral success. When Colorado Senator Ken Salazar was appointed Interior Secretary, the Colorado Senate seat did not look like much of a risk. But polling, and tough opponents, have since raised doubts about whether Salazar's appointed replacement, Michael Bennet, a former school superintendent, can hold on to the job. Hypothetical matchups show Bennet losing by a margin of 36% to 45% to former lieut. governor Jane Norton, a Republican. Bennet also faces a primary challenge from former state house speaker Andrew Romanoff.
