Hello, Goodbye (2000)

The passing of the torch could not have been much more poignant than the scenes that transpired toward the end of the 2000 Open at St. Andrews. While three-time champion (and seven-time runner-up) Jack Nicklaus waved goodbye to adoring fans on the 18th, the onlooking Tiger Woods was steeling himself for the start of his final round. Woods was clearly inspired, as he went on to win by a mighty eight strokes with a record-breaking score of 19 under par. This was the first of (thus far) three Open wins for Woods, the most recent coming in 2006, mere months after his father Earl passed away.
