You know what's illogical, Captain? A bunch of grown adults gathering once a year in strange costumes and funny ears to pay homage to a long-canceled, low-budget sci-fi show. But that's exactly what happens each year at the Official Star Trek Convention at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. With director J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot performing well at the summer box office, you can expect this year's gathering to be even more popular. William Shatner will be there! Zachary Quinto will be there! That guy who played random Klingon No. 6 will be there! It's America at its most obsessive and a reminder that while other countries may make better cars or cheese, no one makes better entertainment. Tickets: from $35
