Military Documents

The Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum

"The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you," General Dwight D. Eisenhower wrote in a pep talk to allied troops ahead of their invasion. That "Order of the Day" and other government documents, including policy memos and post-invasion after-action reports, are available from the Eisenhower Presidential Library. Among them: President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's handwritten order placing Eisenhower in command of "Operation Overlord," the codename for the D-Day assault.
