Elvis Costello's Secret, Profane & Sugarcane

Available June 2

A decade into his messing-around period, Elvis Costello hooks up with fellow noodler T Bone Burnett for Secret, Profane & Sugarcane, which features two tracks Costello wrote for Johnny Cash, a duet with Loretta Lynn and several of the players on Burnett's last big album, the Robert Plant and Alison Krauss collaboration Raising Sand, which took home a Grammy for album of the year. Because Costello is impervious to genre, he's spiced up his country-tinged record with a few songs from his unfinished opera about Hans Christian Andersen. Take that, pigeon-holers!
