Limbaugh's Tongue-Lashing

Day 40
Feb. 28, 2009

"This notion that I want the President to fail, folks — this shows you a sign of the problem we've got. That's nothing more than common sense. And to not be able to say it? Why in the world do I want what we just described — rampant government growth, indebtedness? ... What possibly is in this that any of us want to succeed?"

Rush Limbaugh, conservative talk-show host, firing up the crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference

Limbaugh had made it clear before Obama even took office that he wasn't going to sit idly by while the Democrat pursued his agenda, but he ramps up his criticism at CPAC, delivering fiery remarks in Saturday night's closing address. Limbaugh had come under fire in the past few months for suggesting that he hoped Obama would fail as President, but that doesn't stop him from flat-out saying it before a sea of GOP backers. He also takes shots at other top Democrats, suggesting Vice President Biden is a bigot and referring to Democrat John Kerry as "that haughty Senator from Massachusetts."
