Tokyo

The most important duty of the Finnish Embassy in Tokyo according to design competition winners Architects Lahdelma & Mahlamäki Ltd., "is to create an image of Finland. The embassy must represent Finland in the right way." Unfortunately for them, Finland's Under-Secretary of State, Antti Sierla, had other priorities — noting that he'd be surprised if the building was completed during this decade. "Owing to the economic situation in Finland and Japan, it's probably necessary to put the project on hold for a bit." It's still a long way from the Finnish line.
