Barcelona

Barcelona's beautiful Camp Nou stadium has played host to some of the silkiest soccer skills to have ever graced the game. And to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the stadium in 2007, the club issued an international tender for architects to remodel it, settling on a plan by Sir Norman Foster to merge the stadium into an integrated and highly visible urban environment (and add 10,000 seats in the process). Nevertheless, the $340 million restructuring, along with its striking wall of color-changing glass panels, has been postponed indefinitely.
