Martial Arts and Fashion Don't Mix
In another case of subpar infrastructure, the stage of the Sha Dang show during L.A. Fashion Week 2007 couldn't quite withstand the pressure of an acrobatic martial arts display before the fashion walks began. Eccentric Sha Dang designer Rafi Anteby studies the wushu of both the Shaolin and Wu Dang monasteries and decided, ill-advisedly, to incorporate a demonstration into his show — leaving a Jet Li-sized hole in the catwalk. The first model, woefully unprepared to follow a troupe of big men with knives down the runway, never saw it coming.
