"Lost / Viva La Vida," Coldplay

Introduced by the star of The Mentalist — there's mental, there's mentaler, but that guy is the mentalist! — Coldplay's Chris Martin starts alone at an upright piano and sings a lovely, controlled version of "Lost," bringing a poignancy to the ballad that doesn't exist on the over-orchestrated album version. Then Jay-Z wanders by for a freestyle about suicide and those familiar synth notes rise up for "Viva La Vida." There's really nothing left to say about this song, other than that it went on to win the Grammy for song of the year and that it might be time for someone to step in and assist Chris Martin with his choreography.
