Clark Gable in The Misfits

It was a difficult shoot, in the sweltering, sweltering sun of the desert West. But if you're going to go, what a team to finish off with. Gable (of "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" fame) starred alongside Marilyn Monroe in this film directed by John Huston and written by Arthur Miller. Gable played an old cowboy, and like an old cowboy, he died in the saddle. Shortly after filming wrapped, on Nov. 16, 1960, Gable was felled by a heart attack at the age of 59.
