Dracula (1897) / Dracula: The Un-Dead (2009)

This book isn't even out yet, but already it looks to take the cake for most unnecessary sequel. Due to be released 112 years after the classic gothic vampire novel, and co-written by Dacre Stoker, great-grandnephew of the original book's author, Dracula: The Un-Dead will prove that everything — everything — is capable of producing a second act. Next up, Oliver Twist II: Oliver Twistier.
