Canned lines aren't always so well-received. Just ask Hillary Clinton, whose attack on Barack Obama in 2008 is mostly remembered for the reaction it got from the audience: "Lifting whole passages from someone else's speeches is not change you can believe in, it's change you can Xerox." The audience booed.
