Australia

Does anyone today have the vision, ambition and guts to make an all-out epic? Yes: Baz Luhrmann. Second question: Why would anybody want to make one? We'll find out when the Aussie director, after losing the Alexander the Great race to Oliver Stone (Luhrmann had Leonardo DiCaprio signed — too bad), unveils his first movie since the 2001 Moulin Rouge! Nicole Kidman is the prim landowner, Hugh Jackman the cattle drover in this mix of western grit (call it The Big Aus-trail) and David Leanish grandeur (Lawrence of Australia). Does anyone want to see an all-out epic? We do! It's a long way to Down Under, but we're there already.
