After graduating from the famed Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London (other notable alumni include Stella McCartney, Gareth Pugh and the late Alexander McQueen), John Galliano launched his eponymous label in 1984. Financial troubles prevented the brilliant but rebellious talent from taking off, and by 1995, he began designing for Givenchy, becoming the first British designer to head a French couture house. In 1996, Galliano became creative director at Dior, where his designs have appeared on celebrities such as Drew Barrymore and French First Lady Carla Bruni. Fashion's enfant terrible took his final bow for now in March 2011, when he was dismissed from Dior for allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks.
