Occupation: Film director
Scorsese may have gotten most of the credit for his hit 3-D fantasy biopic Hugo, but he's the first one to say his daughter Francesca gave him the inspiration. Not only did he want to make a film that the 12-year-old could see, but also he viewed the whimsical story through her imagination. In the end, Scorsese the filmmaker behind such bleak classics as Goodfellas and Taxi Driver molded an unlikely family film that doubled as a tribute to the golden age of silent cinema and a cutting-edge 3-D experiment.
