Nobody predicted that the former Pennsylvania Senator would be the last man standing between Mitt Romney and the Republican presidential nomination. But Santorum has confounded expectations despite running a shoestring campaign whose emphasis on polarizing social issues has left moderate Republicans fretting about his suitability as a standard bearer. The magic may have run out, though: despite 10 victories in the GOP nominating contest, Santorum has fallen far behind Romney in the race to 1,144 delegates.
