Former Editor, News of the World
A veteran tabloid journalist who previously worked at The Sun and the Daily Mail, Colin Myler was the final editor of the News of the World and led the paper from Andy Coulson's resignation in 2007 until its closing in July 2011. While Myler came to the paper after the most egregious known instances of hacking took place, he has not been able to avoid the scandal entirely. In 2009, Myler told a Parliamentary committee that only one News of the World reporter, Clive Goodman, had hacked phones, although subsequent inquiries indicate more were involved. He also convinced James Murdoch to authorize a payment of almost $1.6 million to hacking victim Gordon Taylor in 2008.
