Clean air and clean water, healthy communities and a prosperous, clean energy economy. Those are the goals Lisa Jackson has been fighting for every day for 25 years. Wanting to make the world a better place, she joined the Environmental Protection Agency which she now leads after earning a master's in chemical engineering from Princeton.
As the U.S. grapples with serious energy issues, we need serious leaders like Lisa. She understands not only the risks we face but also the opportunities to create a new generation of jobs and to grow the economy while protecting public health and the environment.
For the past two years, I've had the privilege of working with Lisa to help lay the foundation for a sustainable energy future. She takes on her tasks with poise and pragmatism, finding common ground and common-sense solutions.
Lisa, 49, grew up in New Orleans a city that exemplifies perseverance, courage and hope, while maintaining its own unique style andrhythm. Lisa exudes all those qualities. During this time of challenge and opportunity, she is what our nation needs.
