Views of the Asteroid Vesta

The most recent images of Vesta were taken by the Dawn spacecraft in its low altitude mapping orbit, a little over 100 miles away from the asteroid surface. This image shows many buried craters located within Vesta's equatorial trough region. It was obtained on December 13, 2011.
