Havel, center, and Rudolf Batek address a crowd of demonstrators celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Universal Declarations of the Human Rights in Prague in 1988. Batek and Havel were both members of Charter 77, a group that brought international attention to civil rights abuses in Czechoslovakia in the 1980s.
