Royal Opera House, Mumbai
Built for the arrival of British King George V in 1915, Mumbai's Royal Opera House has one of the most majestic colonial-era facades in the teeming Indian coastal metropolis. Though it's the country's sole opera house, by 1935 it had been converted into a cinema, and it fell out of use nearly three decades ago. In 2008, a belated conservation effort kicked off to preserve the now dilapidated structure from further decay.
