The Storms of Saturn

The spacecraft Cassini captures turbulent weather on the surface of the ringed planet.

The Dragon Storm
This storm in Saturn's southern hemisphere was photographed in September 2004. Cassini detected the bursts only when the storm was rising over the horizon on the night side of the planet as seen from the spacecraft; the bursts stopped when the storm moved into sunlight.
