In Hollywood
Despite his success on stage, Falk encountered a little difficulty breaking into movies, in part because of the glass eye he wore in his right eye, the result of a surgery he underwent when he was three to remove a malignant tumor. Eventually though, he not only found roles, but acclaim. He was twice nominated for an Academy Award for supporting actor, the first time for his portrayal of Abe "Kid Twist" Reles in the 1960 release Murder, Inc.
