The Miller House was designed in the 1950s by the great Finnish-born Modernist Eero Saarinen. In 1923, the 13-year-old Saarinen emigrated to the U.S. with his father, Eliel, himself a prominent architect. After World War II the younger Saarinen would become a favorite architect for American corporations seeking a modern image. He would provide sophisticated headquarters and research centers for General Motors, IBM, John Deere and CBS, as well as the TWA Terminal at JFK International Airport in New York City, with its billowing wingspread. It now serves as an entry pavilion to the Jet Blue Terminal.
