The small revolt leaped from town to town; this shot was taken on January 12 in Cité Ettadhamen, an area on the outer reaches of the capital, Tunis. The uprising was fueled by a steady stream of text messages, Twitter and Facebook updates. By now it had a name, The Jasmine Revolution, named for the national flower.
