While McLoughlin was leading four Port Authority police officers through the concourse between the Twin Towers, the south tower collapsed, trapping the men. When the north tower fell, they were buried even deeper beneath the debris. It took until dawn to dig out McLoughlin, who was pinned beneath 30-feet of rubble.
"The two buildings literally fell on top of us. Will and I were trapped in like a little cave. I couldn't see him but we could talk to each other."
